Hi there, Introverted Networkers!
In this issue, I'm sharing my daily LinkedIn routine.
These strategies and tips will help you find new people to grow your network.
Some of these may work for you, and some may not, but I hope they give you some ideas.
This issue takes about 3 minutes to read…
Before We Get Started:
My online course, “5 Steps To Grow Your Professional Network,” is FREE for all my newsletter subscribers. Learn the process I use everyday to grow my professional network.
Each week, I post a new podcast with tips you’ll find in the weekly newsletter and bonus stories, wisdom, and motivation. The Introverted Networker podcast is like the weekly newsletter but with additional narration and thoughts from me. Be sure to listen to this week’s podcast and check out the previous episodes of the podcast as well.
The video version of the podcast is available on my YouTube channel.
Start with Your Homepage
The first thing I do is post.
I post every weekday, but you don't have to post daily to grow your network.
However, if you can start posting regularly, it will help you become more visible and connect with more people.
Commenting on Posts
One of the most effective ways to get visible on LinkedIn is by commenting on other people's posts. Here's how I do it:
Find Posts to Comment On: Look at your feed for posts from people you follow. If you see something interesting, leave a comment.
Make Your Comments Valuable: Add something meaningful to the conversation. Share your thoughts, ask a question, or add an insight. Avoid negativity; if you don't like a post, just scroll past it.
Engage with Commenters: If someone likes or comments on your comment, see who they are. They might be good people to follow or connect with.
Leveraging Your First-Degree Connections
Reconnecting with your first-degree connections can be a goldmine. Here’s how:
Search with Filters: Go to your network, click on connections, and use filters like past companies or locations to narrow down the list.
Reach Out: Send a message to someone you haven't talked to in a while. Start the conversation with a simple greeting and ask how they’re doing.
Check Mutual Connections: When you view a profile, LinkedIn shows mutual connections. Use this to remember other people you might want to reconnect with.
Keeping the Conversation Going
Once you start these conversations, it's important to keep them going:
Message Responses: When someone responds, continue the conversation. Ask more questions and share updates.
Move to Calls: Suggest a quick 15-minute call to catch up. You don’t always need to meet in person; a phone call can be very effective.
Stay Top of Mind: Regularly touch base with your connections to maintain the relationship.
Summary
To summarize, here's your action plan for LinkedIn networking:
Comment on Posts: Engage with posts in your feed and add value to the conversations.
Reconnect with First-Degree Connections: Use filters to find connections you haven’t talked to in a while and send them a message.
Engage with Mutual Connections: Check who you have in common with your first-degree connections and reach out.
LinkedIn is a fantastic tool to organize and grow your network.
By consistently following these steps, you'll find that opportunities start to appear.
Give it a try this week and let me know how it goes!
